| Day two: Contests tournaments and prizes, oh my... | |||

| At most larger events, they will dedicate an entire day to contests, tournaments, and game demos. This is what both draws the larger crowds and brings additional sponsors to the event. ShowdownLAN is no different. It drew numerous teams for the four differerent tournements hosted. The teams joined there designated servers and flexed their digital muscles. In the end, the top teams would receive prizes from the sponsors and have bragging rights. Contests at sometimes included to include another form of entertainment, not only for those participating, but for those watching the mayhem. There is nothing like watching a bunch of 20-30 somethings crowd around chairs while the music plays, only to reak havok on the unwitting chairs. We also witnessed frisbee shuffleboard and Simon says. I mostly participated as the audience, exceptfor a very short lived two rounds, in a game I lack any real soil or patience to play on my own. Today ended earlier due to the lack of sleep the night before. | |||

| The first day is over and it has already paid for the $40 entry fee. I've seen old aquatences from days past, chilled out playing some video games with online friends, and beta tested some new products. The event was about half capacity, with the remaining attendees expected to arrive later. Tomorrow we will participate in tournaments, contests, and watching geeks make fools of themselves for rediculous prizes. I will post pics for everyone's amusement. | |||

| It is 5 minutes before the doors, and we head to the end of the line. With over 340 attendees prepaid, and hundreds of thousands of dollars invested by sponsors for this event to occur. We have already spent 11 hours in the vehicle, over 700 miles driven, 2 tanks of gas, a few more minutes we can handle. The sky is gloomy but we are hopeful, especially since this an indoor event. | |||
